![]() I was very diligent when I tried all those versions of the flash plugin's. But I've never tried flashing a Video Card.Īs you've read on my other post, I'd LOVE to find out if a SP 1.8, (like yours), can actually function as well with respect to video, as my Dual Core machines. I've dabbled a bit myself as I find it challenging and rewarding trying to keep my older G5's running smoothly. Japamac is probably the most qualified expert here with regard to G5's, and one of his specialties is Video Cards. The following is a very good flashing guide: Heck, as much as I loath the wimpy Radeon 9600 card that Apple chose to use, it is still twice as strong as the FX 5200. You already have the card, so, no cash outlay, right? I would rather kill an afternoon converting a graphics card than live with a FX 5200. The 5200 was an effort to "make up" for the MX4 travesty.ĭespite the need to flash, if you have some time, you might just give it a try. If a G5 could run with a Radeon 9000 Pro, with the exception of the fact that the old 9000 doesn't support Core Image (due to ancient architecture), the 9000 would "wipe the floor" with the FX 5200 in terms of performance. "A monkey with crayons is faster than a FX 5200". The FX 5200 is a barely capable card, barely supports Core Image (vital to Leopard) and, in fact, is so weak that some Apple applications disable hardware graphics acceleration when the FX 5200 is present. While the Geforce 6200 will not improve Flash compatibility, it will improve the overall feel and function of OS X as compared to the FX 5200. #Nvidia geforce fx 5200 g5 proNow that I'm a Flashing Pro :-), I can flash the other cars at a later date. Like I said, if the card works in the G5, I will be happy. The flashed 6200LE also has a bulging Capacitor, which concerns me.īut all in all, I'm doing good. The original newer card was a 6200.Īfter doing some comparing online, it seems the 6200 is better & faster than the LE which was made later.Īnd I really want to Flash the 6200 because it's much newer. :-)īut if this card works, I'll be happy. So now in order to Flash the other 2 cards I need a PCI card. So I went to go flash the another Card & by mistake I flashed the PCI Card which also happened to be Nvidea.:-( ![]() So I happened to have 2 more of the same AGP cards. I Flashed one Card, but I won't find out until I get home if it will work for sure on the G5. rom file, the nfash.exe & the cwsdpmi.exe I made the Perfect nvflash Bootup Floppy Disc (Finally). ![]()
